Just this morning the Associated Press announced their all Big 12 first and second team selections as well as players and coach of the year. In the second team selections there are two Red Raiders who have had a terrific year and to be honest, probably only missed being a first team selection by a few votes.

Keke Coutee was beaten out by Oklahoma State wide receiver, and potential Biletnikoff winner, James Washington and by West Virginia receiver David Sills V. Dakota Allen would of had a tougher time cracking the 1st team as the top 3 at his position were, Texas linebacker, Malik Jefferson, Iowa State Linebacker/Quarterback specialist Joel Lanning, and Oklahoma senior Ogbonnia Okoronkwo who also garnered the AP Defensive Player of the Year for the Big 12.

Keke Coutee finished his junior campaign with 82 receptions on the season for 1,242 yards and 9 touchdowns, Coutee also had a kickoff return for a touchdown. For Dakota Allen in his junior year as well, he has totaled 92 tackles for the Red Raiders, including 2 sacks and 2 interceptions for the much improved Texas Tech defense.

With both of these players only being juniors and playing at a very high level, there is not a doubt in my mind that by this time next season we will be talking about how these two are first team selections and quite possibly All-Americans.
