Sunday evening the BCS and FBS bowl schedule was announced a day after the BCS conferences player their conference championship games. The Big 12 Conference earned a lucrative, second BCS bowl slot after Northern Illinois lost the MAC Championship Game last Friday. Baylor won its first Big 12 Conference Championship by beating Texas on Saturday and automatically earned the Big 12's Fiesta Bowl slot.

The Big 12 Conference has two teams playing in the BCS for the sixth time.
