#7 Texas Tech Knocks Off #11 California on Friday

The Texas Tech soccer team was in action yesterday as they knocked off the #11 ranked California Lady Bears by a score of 1-0.  With less than 60 seconds remaining on the clock, Janine Beckie ended that thought rather quickly, though, scoring the game-winning goal with 32 seconds remaining in the second overtime to give the #7 ranked Red Raiders the victory. 

"We are certainly excited about such a big road win," said Tech head coach Tom Stone, who is now 4-2 at Tech against ranked non-conference opponents.  "Cal gave us a lot to deal with but we did not break and the finish was classic Janine.  She seems to be able to raise her game in the biggest of moments." 

The Red Raiders will look to continue their best start to a season in school history Sunday evening when Abilene Christian makes the trip to Lubbock for a 7 p.m. kickoff at the John Walker Soccer Complex.
