The 6th seed Lady Raider basketball team returns to the hardwood tonight in first round action of the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship against Oklahoma State; who enters the tournament as the conferences 11th seed. The Lady Raiders wrapped up their regular season with a 21 and 9 overall record, and a 8 and 8 mark in conference play; while the Cowgirls were 4 and 12 in the Big 12 and 16 and 13 overall on the year. Tip-off between the Lady Raiders and OSU is scheduled for 7:30 from the Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City. The Winner of the game will face the 3rd seeded University of Oklahoma tomorrow with a 7:30 tip-off as well.

Other games already played today in the Big 12 tournament saw the 7th seeded University of Kansas take down the 8th seeded Colorado Buffaloes by a final score of 71 to 45. Kansas will now face the top seeded Baylor Bears tomorrow morning at 11 a.m.

The 5th seeded Iowa State Cyclones slid past the 12th seeded Nebraska Cornhuskers 69 to 61, and will now square off against the 4th seeded Kansas State Wildcats tomorrow at 1:30.

The University of Texas is still scheduled to face Missouri today prior to the Lady Raiders game with tip-off scheduled for 5 o’clock. The Winner between the 7th seeded Longhorns and 11th seeded Tigers will move on the battle the 2nd seeded Texas A&M Aggies with a 5 o’clock start time tomorrow as well.

The 25th ranked Red Raiders and 23rd ranked Lady Raiders track programs will be sending 11 student-athletes to compete in 11 events at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships being held this Friday and Saturday in College Station, at the Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium. The men will be sending Bryce Brown, Bryce Lamb, Gil Roberts and Farrell Roddick; while the women are sending four individuals and the distance medley relay. It is the second straight year the distance medley relay has qualified for nationals.

In Big 12 Softball news Chelsea Thomas of Missouri earned Big 12 Softball Pitcher of the Week Honors; while Texas Tech’s Cydney Allen earned the Big 12 Softball player of the Week award. This was the second honor for Thomas and the first for Tech’s Allen. It was the second week in a row for the Red Raiders to claim the player of the week honors as Logan Hall claimed the honor last week. The 19th-ranked Red Raiders return to the diamond Wednesday afternoon for a midweek doubleheader against New Mexico. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Rocky Johnson Field.

According to a Yahoo! Sports report, Ohio State football coach Jim Tressel was informed that some of his players had sold memorabilia to the owner of a tattoo parlor more than eight months before the school said it was made aware of the improper transactions. Tressel, University President E. Gordon Gee and Athletic Director Gene Smith are planning on holding a news conference this evening at 7 to address the possible rules violations

Over in the NBA George Karl and the Denver Nuggets have agreed to terms on a new contract extension. Exact terms of the deal were not known, but a source close to the deal said the multiyear extension is worth at least three years, and close to his $ 3 million dollar salary from this season. The 59-year-old Karl is in his seventh season in Denver, where he's never failed to lead the Nuggets to the playoffs. In his 23rd season as an NBA head coach overall, he ranks seventh on the all-time wins list with 1,022 victories.

In PGA news Tiger Woods and Phil Michelson have been paired together during the first rounds of the WGC-Cadillac Championship. Woods and Mickelson, who are raked fifth and sixth respectively, will play with reigning U.S. Open Champion Graeme McDowell, who’s ranked fourth. They will start Thursday at 10:50 from Doral’s 10th tee, and then Friday at 11:54 from the first tee.
