Lubbock’s Alamo Drafthouse Offers Sensory-Friendly Screening of ‘Finding Dory’

The long-anticipated sequel Finding Dory opens this Friday, June 17, and Lubbock's Alamo Drafthouse is going the extra mile to ensure more children are able to see the film at the theater.

A sensory-friendly screening will be held at the theater on Saturday, June 18 at 12:45 p.m.

What exactly does a sensory-friendly screening entail?

The house lights will be slightly up, sound will be slightly down and there will be no previews or advertisements. All ages are welcome and the "no talking" policy will be "slightly relaxed," according to Alamo Drafthouse. This means children and adults with sensory conditions, like certain types of autism, will have a more pleasurable movie experience.

I wasn't aware that this type of screening is available in Lubbock, and I am quite happy that even more folks will be able to enjoy the movies as much as I do. Alamo is a wonderful place to see all kinds of films (and I highly recommend the strawberry milkshake).
