Alex Rodriguez belted a solo home run in the third inning of the New York Yankees home opening 5-0 win over the Los Angeles Angels.

It was a drive to straightaway centerfield off Angel’s starter Ervin Santana.

It’s A-Rod’s first of the year and 630th of his career, tying Ken Griffey Jr. for fifth place on the all-time list.

Rodriguez trails Barry Bonds (762), Hank Aaron (755), Babe Ruth (714) and Willie Mays (660) on the career list.
