Texas Tech senior volleyball player Amanda Dowdy was voted a preseason All-Big 12 Selection Tuesday in a unanimous vote by the conference coaches. Dowdy was one of just five players selected unanimously on the 14 player team.

Dowdy enters her final season at Tech as one of the most successful players in school history, as she finished last season with a team-high 424 kills to go along with 242 digs and 55 blocks. She is currently fifth on the school’s career kill list (1,041) and sixth in career attacks (2,892) and she is only the eighth player in school history to reach 1,000 kills in a career.

Rachael Adams and Khat Bell of Texas earned Player and Freshman of the Year honors, while Iowa State’s Hannah Willms was named the conference Newcomer of the Year. The conference office will release the Big 12 preseason poll Wednesday afternoon.
