Do You Live in America’s Manliest City?

Do you live in Oklahoma City, Columbus, S.C. or Memphis? If so, congratulations — you live in one of the three manliest cities in the United States.

For the past four years, snack food brand Combos and Bert Sperling, the research expert behind the popular ‘Best Places to Live’ studies, have teamed up to rank 50 major metropolitan areas using “manly” criteria like the popularity of power tools, the number of professional sports teams, and how many steak houses there are.

So with that in mind, here’s your testosterone-fueled top 10:

  1. Oklahoma City, OK
  2. Columbia, SC
  3. Memphis, TN
  4. Nashville, TN
  5. Birmingham, AL
  6. Houston, TX
  7. St. Louis, MO
  8. Toledo, OH
  9. Cleveland, OH
  10. Charlotte, NC

Meanwhile, cities lose points for so-called emasculating characteristics like high minivan sales, having a lot of home furnishing stores, and subscription rates to beauty magazines.

That settles it — we’re canceling our subscription to O magazine. This time we mean it.
