The Arkansas Razorbacks defeated the South Carolina Gamecocks Monday night 2-1 in the College World Series.

The loss snapped a 22-game post-season winning streak for South Carolina.

The Gamecocks will now face Kent State in an elimination game Wednesday night at 8 p.m. eastern, after the Golden Flashes were able to hold off a late comeback attempt and eliminate the top-seeded Florida Gators earlier in the day with a 5-4 win. The Razorbacks await the winner of that game.

Sophomore Ryne Stanek (8-4) picked up the win for Arkansas going six innings of three hit baseball, walking three and striking out three. Stanek gave up South Carolina’s lone run of the game in the 5th when centerfielder Evan Marzilli tripled driving in second baseman Chase Vergason.

Barrett Astin came on in relief for Arkansas and picked up his 11th save, pitching three shutout innings while giving up just one hit.

Colby Holmes took the loss for S.C. falling to 7-2. He lasted just 3.2 innings giving up both earned runs, one in the first and one in the fourth.
