In the afternoon hours of Sunday, August 23, at least one person was transported to the hospital after a motorcycle was struck by a pickup truck in Idalou.

Texas DPS reports that around 4:15 p.m. on U.S. Highway 62/82 in front of the Rip Griffin Travel Center, the driver of a black pick-up waiting to go eastbound on the highway's access road struck a westbound motorcycle.

The driver of the pickup did not stop and left the scene of the accident.

It’s reported that at least one of the two occupants on the motorcycle were taken to UMC with critical injuries. Law enforcement later located the driver, who informed them she may have sideswiped another vehicle, and that she did not see the motorcycle.

DPS did not report any charges the driver may face at this time.
