After Iowa State beat Texas Tech last season, I didn't think they would outdo that victory for several years. I was wrong.

Iowa State beat no. three Oklahoma in Norman today 38-31 to move their record to 3-2 and the Sooners record to 4-1.

Baker Mayfield was 24/33, 306 and two touchdowns, but was out-dueled in the second half by a quarterback making his first start for the Cyclones, Kyle Kempt. Behind Kepmt, the Cyclones outscored the Sooners 25 to 7 in the second half on their way to the huge upset.

The man of the day was Joel Lanning. The quarterback turned linebacker turned two-way player was all over the field today.

The end of the game felt like karma for Baker Mayfield, who planted a flag on the Ohio State field after they beat them this season, then told a Baylor player he was going to show them who daddy was. Both of those incidents came back to bite him today.

Of course the fan base in Ames, Iowa enjoyed that one but it's also special for a Lubbock fan base that still harbours ill will toward former Red Raider Baker Mayfield.
