In celebration of the Dallas Mavericks winning their first NBA Championship and the lockout being over we have decided to share our top 5 Mavericks players of the 2000's. Some of the players on this list are still with the franchise and others are not. Give it a read and tell us what you think.

    Jason Kidd

    2008-Present

    Jason Kidd started his career with the Dallas Mavericks all the way back in 1994 but it's really the 2000s when he began to shine. Since being traded back to the Mavs in the 2007-08 season from New Jersey, Kidd has shot over 80% from the free throw line and has averaged nearly a double double during that time. Kidd won his first NBA Championship this past season with Dallas.

    Michael Finley

    1996-2005

    Michael Finley started his career with the Mavericks in 1996 and played with the team until 2005. Finley was a shooting guard and was a clutch player during his time with the franchise. In 2000, he was selected to his first NBA All-Star Game and finished the season with a career high of 22.6 PPG. Finley continued with his success and posted his career high in playoff PPG of 24.6 the following season.

    Jason Terry

    2004-Present

    Jason Terry is a versatile player for the Mavericks ever since joining the team in 2004. He quickly became the team's utility player and also won the NBA's 6th Man of the Year in 2009 after finishing the season with 19.6 PPG. Terry was a clutch player in the 2011 NBA Championship as he scored 27 points in game 6 against the Miami Heat. The Mavs won the series 4-2.

    Steve Nash

    1998-2004

    Steve Nash was a key player in helping the Mavericks get out of their playoff drought. The Mavs made it to the playoffs for the first time in ten years in the 2000-01 season. In the next season Nash scored his career high of 17.9 PPG. In his time in Dallas he was a two time NBA All-Star. Nash left the Mavericks in 2004 and has been playing with the Phoenix Suns ever since.

    Dirk Nowitzki

    1998-Present

    The obvious choice for best player of the Dallas Mavericks in the 2000's is Dirk Nowitzki. Nowitzki led the Mavericks to their first NBA Championship this past season where he was also named NBA finals MVP. Nowitzki was also named the NBA's most valuable player in 2007. The ten time All-Star will try for back-to-back championships this upcoming season.
