The Big 12 Conference today announced it will invite Texas Christian University to become the 10th member of the Big 12, replacing Texas A&M who is leaving for the SEC next summer.  The Big 12 Board of Directors also authorized interim commissioner Chuck Neinas to begin discussions and negotiations with TCU.

The Big 12 also stated that the University of Missouri abstained from voting on the addition of TCU since it is currently exploring its options concerning conference affiliation.

Texas A&M is slated to officially become a member of the SEC on July 1, 2012 and the Big 12 Conference would like to have TCU officially become a member of the Big 12 on the same date.
