Last season, the Wildcats stopped the Canes on a goal line stand to win the game and propelled K-State to a 10-3 season and second place finish in the Big 12. Miami won last week 41-32 at Boston College while K-State used a 35-point outburst in the second half to win 51-9 over Missouri State.

Iowa State Cyclones at Iowa Hawkeyes, 2:30pm

The Cyclones defeated Tulsa last week 38-23 after trailing 16-7 in the first half. Iowa used a late touchdown to defeat Northern Illinois 18-17 at Soldier Field in Chicago. The Hawkeyes will run the ball and run it effectively while the Hawks defense will shutdown Steele Jantz and the Cyclones in Iowa City.

Rice Owls at Kansas Jayhawks, 2:30pm

Rice fell to new look UCLA 49-24 at home last week while KU struggled in their opener under new coach Charlie Weis 31-17 over South Dakota State. Kansas will need this game more than Rice as TCU visits Lawrence next week for their inaugural Big 12 game.

Texas Tech Red Raiders at Texas State Bobcats, 6pm

The Red Raiders trailed TSU last season at halftime 10-9 before winning 50-10. Tech dominated defensively last week against Northwestern State holding them to 84 yards while Texas State throttled Houston 30-13 on the road. Tech will be tested with the TSU spread option under Shaun Rutherford.

Florida A&M at Oklahoma Sooners, 6pm

OU struggled with UTEP last week in El Paso winning 24-7. OU led 10-7 going into the fourth quarter while the Sooners were lost offensively most of the game. That will change in week 2.

New Mexico Lobos at Texas Longhorns, 7pm

Bob Davie matched the win total for UNM in 2011 with a win last week in his debut with the triple option. Texas struggled with Wyoming until they pulled away with a 37-17 win. Look for Texas to pound the ball on the ground more this week and don’t be surprised if UNM keeps this close in the first half.

Texas 34 UNM 10

Oklahoma State at Arizona, 9:30pm

Arizona struggled to beat Toledo last week in the debut for Rich Rodriguez with a 24-17 win in overtime while Oklahoma State dropped 84 on Savannah State. While OSU is a heavy favorite, look for Arizona to make a game of this.
