The Big 12 conference had three men’s basketball teams ranked in the first USA Today/ESPN Coaches’ preseason poll.

The Kansas Jayhawks were the highest ranked team at No. 7 after finishing as the national runner-up last season.

The Baylor Bears will start the season ranked No. 18 after finishing in the top 10 a year ago. The Longhorns round out the group tied for 24th with Florida State.

Kansas State and Oklahoma State were the other two Big 12 squads receiving votes.

A year ago, three Big 12 teams were ranked in the top 11 of the final USA Today/ESPN poll. Overall the conference had three teams ranked in the top 10 of the national polls for eight different weeks in 2011-12.
