The Big 12 released its Men’s Basketball Preseason Poll Thursday with Kansas and Texas A&M both selected as favorites to win the title. It marks just the second time in conference history, Kansas & Oklahoma State in 04-05 being the other, which two squads tied for the top spot in the preseason poll.

Baylor, Missouri and Texas were next in the predictions checking in at third, fourth and fifth. Kansas State, Oklahoma State and Iowa State were next, while Oklahoma and the Texas Tech Red Raiders tied for ninth to round out the poll.

Kansas has plenty of talent on the roster as the Jayhawks return eight letterman from last year’s squad that advanced to the NCAA regional semifinals.

Texas A&M is in the No. 1 spot for the first time, with its previous highest preseason ranking coming in 2006-07 when the Aggies checked in second. New head coach Billy Kennedy welcomes back 10 lettermen and three starters in his first season in College Station.

The Red Raiders will open the season on November 3rd with an exhibition game against Southwestern Oklahoma State, and any fan wishing to catch a glimpse of this year’s squad can show up at the United Spirit Arena Saturday beginning at 2:30 as the team will hold an open practice.
