On the evening of Wednesday, August 26, a bomb squad call in downtown Lubbock turned out to be a false alarm.

Bomb squads employed by the Lubbock Police Department and Lubbock Sheriff's Office responded to the Citibus transfer plaza on the corner of Buddy Holly Avenue and Broadway Street, blocking off access to pedestrians and traffic from approximately 6:10-8:40 p.m..

The call to the bomb squad was prompted by a beeping sound coming from the inside of a parked van. Officers eventually gave the all-clear call when they discovered the beeping sound was just the product of a medical device inside the vehicle.
