The Texas Rangers weren’t treated well on the start of their six-game road trip last night.

The Rangers were shelled by the Boston Red Sox 17-5. Rangers starting pitcher Justin Grimm was chased in the second inning after giving up six runs. Former Ranger Ryan Dempster got the win for the Sox.

David Ortiz got the scoring started with a RBI double in the first and RBI triple in the second as part of the six-run inning for the Red Sox.

The lone bright spots for Texas were A.J. Pierzynski going 3 of 4 at the plate and upping his season average to .300.

Outfielder David Murphy transitioned to pitch in the 8th inning and threw a strikeout in a full inning of relief for Texas.

The Rangers and Red Sox go again tonight in Fenway. First pitch tonight is set for 6:10. Alexi Ogando returns to the lineup tonight  for Texas pitching against Red Sox starter and Abilene native John Lackey.
