Buffalo Bills Ship Wide Receiver Lee Evans to Baltimore
The Baltimore Ravens have acquired veteran wide receiver Lee Evans from the Buffalo Bills in exchange for a 2012 4th round draft pick, giving the Ravens a proven veteran to play alongside Anquan Boldin.
The Ravens seemed intent on bringing in a proven veteran after cutting long tenured players TE Todd Heap and WR Derrick Mason to save some cap space.
“We’re excited about getting Lee Evans,” Ravens coach John Harbaugh said a day after Baltimore opened the preseason with a 13-7 loss to Philadelphia. “He’s a proven player in this league, and a quality person who will fit in well on our team.”
Evans is a seven-year vet, being drafted out of Wisconsin in 2004. He is considered a down field threat (which should help keep 8 or 9 guys out of the box for Ray Rice) with two 1,000-yard seasons.
Ironically his best game last season came against the Ravens, when he had 105 receiving yards and three touchdowns in Buffalo’s 37-34 overtime loss.
