A pair of former Texas Tech Red Raider Baseball stars will make their Major League Baseball debuts this week.

Former Monterey standout and Red Raider pitcher Chad Bettis was called up from Double-A Tulsa to make his Major League debut for the Colorado Rockies.

Bettis is expected to make his debut out of the bullpen for the Rockies during their series against the Atlanta Braves. Bettis was drafted back in 2010 and was named the California League Pitcher of the Year in 2011.

Bettis was the fifth-highest drafted player in Texas Tech history.

Former Texas Tech Baseball star Roger Kieschnick has been called up to make his Major League debut. Kieschnick will be activated by the San Fransisco Giants for their three-game series against the Philadelphia Phillies.

The final season  for Kieschnick in 2008 as a Red Raider was stellar as he batted a .305 with 15 doubles, 17 home runs, 65 RBI and tallied eight stolen bases. He remains one of only two Red Raiders to lead the team in triples and home runs in back-to-back seasons.
