Friday afternoon, the City of Lubbock announced that the Lubbock City Council named four finalists for City Manager.  James Loomis is the current city manager for Lubbock and he is retiring within the next two months.

The finalists names were released in alphabetical order by the city, with KFYO News researching additional information concerning their current/previous occupation:

  • W. Jarrett Atkinson, Amarillo, Texas – Former Amarillo City Manager (2010-15)
  • Jack M. Harper, Waco, Texas – Waco Assistant City Manager
  • Ronald L. Olson, Corpus Christi, Texas – Former Corpus Christi City Manager (2011-16)
  • Orlando L. Sanchez, Las Vegas, Nevada- Las Vegas Deputy City Manager

According to the city, with the naming of finalists for this position, current City Manager James Loomis has announced his retirement effective November 18, 2016. Interviews with finalists for the City Manager position are scheduled for next week, the week of October 24th. A sole finalist could be named before Loomis retires.

The City Council could name an Interim City Manager at the October 27th City Council Meeting.
