Collegiate Baseball has named Texas Tech junior right-handed pitcher Trey Masek and sophomore shortstop Tim Proudfoot as “Top Players to Watch” in its 2013 College Baseball Preview.

The publication also recognized Masek as a potential first or second round Major League Baseball Draft prospect.

Masek has made 34 appearances thus far in his two year Red Raider career with a 4.12 ERA and seven wins with 120 innings pitched and 79 strike-outs.

He was one of just six pitchers and position players from the Big 12 to make the list of “Top MLB Draft Prospects.”

Proudfoot led all conference freshman last season with 21 extra-base hits while batting .237 with 14 doubles, five triples, two home runs and 29 RBI. He was even better with the leather, fielding .957 and setting a freshman school record with 169 assists.

In addition, Proudfoot finished the final month of 2012 committing just two errors in the last 20 games.
