Controversial Calls Put Black Eye on Lubbock Christian University Softball’s Final Season in NAIA
The Lubbock Christian University Softball team made a great run in the NAIA National Tournament this week in Georgia and brought in a school record 61 wins.
The Lady Chaps lost their season finale to Spring Hill College 4-2, but the loss wasn't met with controversy. LCU was called for five batter out of box penalties resulting in outs when there were runners on base in scoring position.
The Chaps were playing its last season in the NAIA this athletic year as they will join NCAA Division II next season in the Heartland Conference. The relief of LCU leaving NAIA was also exclaimed on the LCU Chaps twitter account.
The fact that LCU was called for this five times in a game is the ridiculous part and it doesn't look good for the NAIA any way you look at it.
The umpire in the game either inserted himself into the game and caused the outcome of the game to go one way or the NAIA targeted LCU.
LCU deserves better and the NAIA didn't deserve the Chaps.
