On Tuesday (May 22), Child Protective Services gained court protection for a newborn baby girl in Lubbock.

KAMC News reports 28-year-old Stephanie Nicole Rodriguez was jailed for Injury to a Child and Tampering With a Government Record. She was arrested on May 18th, and she gave birth on May 19th at University Medical Center. She remains in the Lubbock County Detention Center on $26,500 worth of bonds.

In a 2017 CPS case, Rodriguez admitted that she would test positive for marijuana and cocaine. Another incident CPS brought up involved her 1-year-old. The child was severely burned, and she was charged.

A judge granted CPS temporary conservatorship of the newborn child.

Court records state Rodriguez has 10 children in total, and five of them were previously adopted.
