The Dallas Cowboys used their first preseason win since 2013 to collect the The Governor's Cup. The game was full of players who will be cut when the rosters trim down to 53 in a few days.

This was a good game for those guys to go out on. Ben Malena had a good game, but won't make the team. On the other hand, guys like Corey White probably solidified their spot on the final roster with his pick six. Byron Jones is definitely a rookie and has played like it. He'll no doubt make the roster.

The battle for the the third quarterback was one-sided as Dustin Vaughn played all the snaps. Judging by that it seems that if the Cowboys keep a third quarterback it will be Vaughn. If we are strictly going by preseason performance, I would lean toward taking only two quarterbacks into the preseason and letting Dustin Vaughn be on the practice squad another year.

Jameill Showers did not play a single snap at quarterback. If he is on the roster, it will be in a special teams capacity.

Maybe the Cowboys get a Baylor grad that has been rumored to be on the chopping block. I want to say Robert Griffin wouldn't be a distraction, but NFL fans are notoriously hot-headed. I think as soon as Tony Romo throws a pick there will be a gentle clamor for the back-up. As ridiculous as it is to think Griffin is better than Romo, that's just how the NFL works.

Gavin Escobar seemed to solidify his second tight end status. He hauled in two catches for 33 yards, fighting for extra yards each time.

Darrion Weems is going to make this team and that means this offensive line has zero depth.

There were several defensive linemen that are vying for the last few roster spots. Ryan Russell, who had a nice strip sack in the third quarter. He is the fifth-round pick from this year. Ben Gardner two tackles for loss and four total tackles. Gardner has the versatility to play end and tackle in Rod Marinelli's defensive scheme.

Assuming Ryan Russell has made the team then Gardner and Lavar Edwards are probably competing for the final roster spot. Edwards had a sack and a couple tackles for loss.

The last defensive lineman to make the team will be Davon Coleman. He can play both tackle spots and has been productive this preseason.

The suspensions of Rolando McClain and Greg Hardy opens two roster spots for the first four weeks of this season. Jasper Brinkley will likely be the recipient of one of these gifts, if he makes the roster up front he will be dropped when McClain is activated.

The good news is that there are no more preseason games. The next time the Cowboys take the field it will count toward a record, the starters will play the entire game and Darren McFadden will claim his throne as the best running back in the NFL.

Maybe just two of those are true, but we can hope.
