The Dallas Cowboys released nine year starter and two-time Pro Bowl cornerback Terence Newman Tuesday afternoon. The Cowboys announced the move minutes after the free agency signing period began.

Newman started 131 games for the Cowboys in nine seasons and was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2007 and 2009. He departs from Dallas with 558 tackles and 32 interceptions. The 33-year old Newman  missed two games in 2011 and six games in 2008 with a groin injury that hampered his speed and coverage ability in a reeling Dallas secondary the past four seasons.

Newman was selected by the Cowboys in the 2003 NFL Draft 5th overall in the First Round out of Kansas State.
