Last night the Dallas Mavericks defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder to advance to the NBA Finals for the first time since 2006.

The Mavs defeated the Thunder 100 – 96.

The Mavericks used a big come back in the 4th going on a 14 – 4 run in the final 5 minutes to clench a spot in the finals.

Dirk Nowitzki and Shawn Marion led the Mavs scoring 26 a piece, followed by J.J. Barea with 14 and Jason Terry with 12. Shawn Marion scored 15 of his 26 points during the 4th quarter to help lead the comeback. Marion was proud of his team's veteran behavior during the game:

"We just kept our poise at all times.It seemed like we never got rattled and just chipped away and chipped away." - AP

Russell Westbrook led the Thunder with 31 followed by Kevin Durant and James Harden with 23 each.

Over the course of the series Dirk was 59 – 61 from the free throw stripe and he leads the NBA in 4th quarter postseason scoring this season averaging 11 points.

When it came to talking about the victory Dirk had this to say:

"We've got one of those trophies already. This is nice for a day, but we set our goals in October to win it all. We haven't done it yet." - AP

Mavs owner, Mark Cuban, who has been very quiet this post season finally spoke up after last night's victory:

"All I can tell everybody is, we ain't done yet." - AP

The Mavs will face either the Chicago Bulls or the Miami Heat. The Heat hold a 3 – 1 series lead over the Bulls and play tonight at 7:30. The Heat defeated the Mavs in their 2006 finals appearance.
