In a much anticipated move, the Dallas Mavericks have officially waived guard Delonte West.

West had been suspended twice in less than two weeks for conduct detrimental to the team.

The decision Monday cleared a roster spot for center Eddy Curry, who was picked up last week from San Antonio, and could wind up starting the season opener against the Los Angeles Lakers due to an injury to Chris Kaman.

The disgruntled guard indicated in a series of tweets after the second suspension that his future in Dallas was in doubt.

West was often the starting two-guard for the Mavericks last season and scored almost 10 points per game while also serving as the back-up point.
