Texas Tech Red Raider Baseball beat Kansas State 8-2 on Saturday at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park to close out their 2012 season.

The Red Raiders finished in last place in the Big 12 Conference with a 7-17 conference record, 29-26 overall, and they didn't qualify for the Big 12 Conference Tournament.

Tech starting pitcher Trey Masek picked up the win in the season finale by going six innings and only giving up 2 runs on 4 hits.

Offensively, the Red Raiders were led by second baseman Jamodrick McGruder. He hit a 3-run homer in the second inning and scored two runs in the win.

Meanwhile, Texas Tech Head Coach Dan Spencer just finished his fourth season at the helm of the Red Raiders with a 115-112 (44-61) record.  In his four seasons, there have been no NCAA Tournament appearances and three appearances in the Big 12 Tournament.

Texas Tech Athletics has called a press conference for Monday morning, with the topic not specified.  However, reports from KAMC 28 and other media outlets state that Coach Spencer has already been fired.
