Texas Rangers manager Ron Washington officially named Yu Darvish the Rangers Opening Day starter on Tuesday.  Last season, Darvish went 13-9 with a 2.83 ERA in 32 starts for the Rangers.

Darvish replaces Matt Harrison as the Rangers Opening Day starting pitcher.  Last season, Harrison lost to the Houston Astros in their first game in the American League. He eventually had three different stints on the Disabled List in 2013 with back and shoulder issues.

Darvish will anchor a Rangers staff in 2014 which will also feature the aforementioned Harrison, Martin Perez and Derek Holland.
