Minus the mustache and near mullet, Derek Holland seems to no longer have his mojo. Holland found out the hard way how much power the mustache has over his baseball career.

Viewing the Texas Rangers 21-8 blowout loss to the Seattle Mariners in a humorous light is the only way Rangers fans can rationalize what happened. The 10-3 loss earlier in the week to the Mariners was a painful one for the Rangers as they simply did not play their best. This loss however, was a completely different animal.

Former Ranger Justin Smoak had two three run homers batting in a career high in RBIs. Jesus Montero also homered for the Mariners. In fact, the Mariners were hitting so hot, every single Seattle starter had a hit, amassing 20 total on the night.

Depending on how Holland rebounds from this outing, the Rangers are beginning to look ever wiser for drafting Roy Oswalt. Oswalt is expected to be able to play after four minor league starts. In what capacity that will be in is unknown right now, but hopefully there will be very few eight run innings, much less two in the same game.

It is not time to lose faith on Holland just yet. Holland is the same kid who won 16 games last year.

Do you think the loss was because Holland shaved his mustache?
