Every year the NHL has about five monstrous checks that I would consider candidates for "Hit of the Year." Last night, Detroit Red Wing star Niklas Kronwall delivered one of those hits. Kornwall annihilated Philadelphia Flyer Jakob Voracek midway through the second period.

According to the commentators on the game said that it looked like a dirty hit, but this writers disagrees. The hit looked to be cleaned, but that's neither here nor there.

Joke is on Kronwall and the rest of his teammates though as Philadelphia stole the home win on over the Red Wings, 3-2.

Take a look at the hit and sound off on who you think should be a candidate for "Hit of the Year." This one has to be a finalist.
