Gas prices around the nation are at their lowest levels in nearly a decade as the Memorial Day weekend approaches. Where does Lubbock stand on national gas prices?

GasBuddy.com reports that prices for fuel are the lowest in the nation in the Hub City, and that prices are the lowest for Memorial Day weekend since 2005.

The average price for a gallon of regular self-serve gasoline in Lubbock is $1.98 with the lowest price settling at $1.86.

Just north of Lubbock on Interstate 27, Plainview has an average fuel price of $2.03 with their lowest price sitting at $1.93. Other gas price averages in West Texas show Midland averaging $2.09 per gallon, and both Amarillo and Abilene averaging $2.07.
