First, there was Air Bud. Then, the Puppy Bowl. Now comes the latest breakthrough for dogs in sports.

The Argentine Open had dogs working as ball boys while Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Dominic Thiem practiced on Monday.

It makes sense -- heck, Purina Dog Chow is one of the sponsors.

While the small crowd on hand loved the little pups, there's no word whether this will catch on in any of the more major tournaments.

Of course, watching animals is fun. If you've ever seen a dog soar in the air for a Frisbee, you already know that. But, maybe, just maybe, our four-legged friends can compete in different sports. Who wouldn't pay big bucks watching a pooch try to swing for the fences, launch a three-pointer or haul in a Hail Mary touchdown pass?

And when a player performs poorly, it'd only be fitting that he ends up in the doghouse.
