Kris Dunn gets a lot of credit for the plays he makes, but he's getting cash for the one he didn't.

Okay, okay -- it's not what you think. He didn't throw a game or anything like that, so get those thoughts out of your head right now.

A Marquette undergrad shouted, "I will literally give you $10 if you miss this shot!" when the six-foot-four Providence guard, who will most certainly be an All-American this year, stepped up to the free throw line when the Friars and Golden Eagles played this past Wednesday.

So, naturally, Dunn missed the shot. But that's not the end of the story.

The fan in question, Jamey Schilling, proved to be a man of his word by mailing a check -- to Providence, not Dunn, since that'd be a whole ball of trouble for the NCAA to check out -- explaining why in a humorous, well-written letter. It's the kind of kooky stunt that reminds us why we love college basketball in the first place.

Schilling was probably okay parting with the 10 bucks, too, since Marquette squeaked out a win in double overtime, 96-91. Dunn, by the way, is shooting 68% from the charity stripe this season.
