Floyd Mayweather Jr. Wins Unanimous Decision Over Miguel Cotto

Floyd Mayweather Jr. claimed the World Boxing Association super welterweight title Saturday night with a unanimous decision over Miguel Cotto in front of a crowd of 16,407 at the MGM Gran Garden.
It was one of Mayweathers toughest fights to date as in a rare occurrence he had blood dripping down his face from a bloodied nose, but he dominated late in the fight rocking Cotto in the 12th on his way to remain unbeaten in 43 fights.
Two judges scored the fight 117-11 and the third had it 118-110.
”You’re a hell of a champion,” Mayweather told Cotto in the ring afterward. ”You’re the toughest guy I ever fought.”
Punch stats showed Mayweather landing 179 of 687 punches to 105 of 506 to Cotto.
Cotto, who fell to 37-3, was guaranteed his biggest purse ever, $8 million. Mayweather meanwhile reeled in an eye-popping $32 million.
