Former One-on-One Sports Host ‘Papa Joe’ Chevalier Passes Away
Former One-on-One Sports (now Sporting News Radio) host, 'Papa Joe' Chevalier passed away on June 3, 2011.
'Papa Joe's' show was heard on SportsRadio 1340 The Fan in the 7p-9p timeslot during the late 1990's through March 2001.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal has reported on Papa Joe's health issues, leading up to his passing:
Armand "Papa Joe" Chevalier, a longtime Las Vegas resident who built a wide following with his local and syndicated sports talk radio show, died Friday from complications of a stroke at Nathan Adelson Hospice in Las Vegas. He was 62.
Chevalier, popular for expressing views that largely represented the average sports fan, suffered a stroke in late March that resulted in paralysis to his right side. His speech and cognitive processes were not affected.
Papa Joe remained with One-on-One Sports through 2005 after their 2001 transition to Sporting News Radio. After leaving Sporting News Radio he continued hosting local shows on stations in Las Vegas.
