Miami Marlins Closer AJ Ramos has earned his first ticket to the MLB All-Star Game. The Lubbock Native and Marlins Bullpen ace pitched for Texas Tech from 2006-2009. He logged 254.0 innings during his Red Raider career where he struck out 241 hitters, sixth-most in program history.

Ramos becomes the first Red Raider to be named to an All-Star Game roster in school history after turning in a dominant first half of the MLB season as the Miami Marlins’ primary closer. He is one of 14 pitchers on the N.L. roster.

The Lubbock native has been consistent in the back end of games this season as he is 27-for-28 in save opportunities. He is 0-0 overall with a 2.25 ERA in 38 appearances out of the bullpen. He's got a career ERA of 2.56 and is on pace to outdo his single season mark of saves which is 32.

Ramos has been making the most of his All-Star bid by taking in the sights and attractions. He was seen taking in Giancarlo Stanton's monster homerun derby performance on Monday night.
