Former Texas Tech Pitcher Bobby Doran joined Scott Fitzgerald of the Sports Shack on Tuesday to talk his life in the Houston Astros minor league system.

Doran is currently a member of the Corpus Christi Hooks, the Astros Class-AA affiliate, and has a role starting games and coming in as a reliever.

"What happened is the Astros decided had so much starting pitching in the minors that would put eight guys at every affiliate... one time through you will start and one time through you will be relief. Not only development as a front end guy, but also development so you know how to pitch later in ball games."

The Hooks are 19-12 this season and lead the Texas League currently. Doran has started four games and made eight appearances this season going 4-0 with a 2.59 Earned Run Average. Doran has struck out twenty-eight batters and only walked nine through 31 1/3 innings.

Doran also spoke about the Red Raider Baseball program and the future of the program under new head coach Tim Tadlock.

The Sports Shack airs weekdays from 7 to 9 a.m. on Sports Radio 1340 The Fan.
