Former Texas Tech running back Baron Batch is still trying to find his spot in the NFL as he attempts to make the Pittsburgh Steelers, but that dream took another blow last night against the Washington Redskins.  Batch checked into the game late in the first quarter and was looking fairly decent.  He had a few nice runs and caught a pass that he almost scored on but an injury early in the second half ended his night.

Batch (Pictured on the Left) suffered what the Pittsburgh training staff called a stinger which could not have happened at a worse time.  Early in the contest, the Steelers lost their 2nd round pick, Le’Veon Bell, to a foot injury.  Bell was already nursing a sore knee that he suffered earlier in training camp.  Jonathan Dwyer is the other running back that has been getting serious time at the position but is another bruiser type of runner like Bell.

With that said, Baron has been seeing a lot of time with the first team this preseason though.  The injury does not help his chances of earning a permanent spot on the roster, but he has turned some heads in practice.  The Steelers are loaded at the running back position and batch is at the bottom of that list, but his talent has not gone unnoticed and his work this off-season and preseason may help earn him a spot on another NFL squad this year.
