The NFL has suspended four players without pay for their roles in the Saints’ cash-for-hits bounty system.

Jonathan Vilma received the stiffest penalty as he was suspended for the entire 2012 season.

Defensive lineman Anthony Hargrove, who is now with the Green Bay Packers, is suspended eight games this season, Saints defensive end Will Smith is out for the first four games and linebacker Scoot Fujita, now with the Cleveland Browns, will miss three games.

The NFL Players Association says it will fight the penalties. Fujita is a member of the NFLPA's executive committee.
