Several people were wounded during a shooting at a Halloween party that occurred Sunday morning (Oct. 28th) in Hobbs, New Mexico.  

Eighteen-year-old Ruben Flores of Hobbs (pictured above) was arrested and charged with Aggravated Battery and Aggravated Assault. He was booked into the Hobbs Municipal Detention Facility to await arraignment.

Officers responded to sounds of gunshots being fired in the 400 block of North Cochran around 4:28 am. Police said they were already in the area on an unrelated call when they heard multiple gunshots being fired and seen people fleeing the area.

Upon arrival, police found 39-year-old German Portillo of Hobbs, suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. He was first taken to Lea Regional Medical Center, then later transported to a Lubbock hospital for surgery. He was last listed in critical condition.

Officers also found 25-year-old Kareema fields of Hobbs suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. She was taken to Lea Regional Medical Center, where was treated and released.

Additionally, 22-year-old Shanna Frishcknecht of Hobbs had a gunshot wound to her hip. According to police, she said she was sleeping in a vehicle that was parked in the 400 block of North Cochran. She was also treated at Lea Regional Medical Center and later released.

Through initial investigation, Hobbs police said in a statement, it appears that a verbal argument between Portillo and another individual as they were leaving the party. The argument became physical and multiple shots were fired.
