Texas Tech Softball Head Coach Shanon Hays joined the Williams & Hyatt Show Monday to discuss the Red Raiders selection Sunday night into the NCAA Washington Regional.

The post-season selection is the fifth all-time in school history for the Red Raiders and third-straight under Hays.

Hyatt started off the Q&A by asking Hays what he liked most about the regional Texas Tech was selected to.

“I like the fact that first of all we have some girls that are from out there, it’s exciting for them to get to go home and play in front of their family,” Hays said. “And it’s a winnable regional.”

Hays also talked about the draw backs of being in that regional. Harvard? Really? Who would have thought Harvard would be an athletic power in any sport.

Texas Tech finished the regular season 40-15 overall and 13-10 in Big 12 play. It was the programs first winning conference record since 2001 and the second straight 40-win season.
