Houston Astros Avoid Sweep with 6-3 Victory over San Fransisco Giants
The Houston Astros bounced back in a big way after Matt Cain was perfect against them the night before.
Less than a day after having a perfect game pitched against them The Astros defeated the San Fransisco Giants 6-3 to avoid being swept in the three-game midweek series.
Left Fielder JD Martinez hit the first grand slam of his career and seventh home run of the season for a reeling Astros club which has lost 13 of its last 17 games. Matt Downs also hit a home run en route to the victory.
Wandy Rodriguez gave up all three runs against the Giants through six innings to improve his record to 6-4 on the season. Barry Zito fell to 5-4 after going only five innings after giving up five runs, all of them earned.
The Astros next face the Texas Rangers in Arlington for a three-game weekend series. Jordan Lyles (1-2) takes the mound for Houston opposite Texas ace Yu Darvish (7-4). First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
