Houston Astros Interview Washington Nationals coach Bo Porter
The Houston Astros interviewed Washington Nationals third base coach Bo Porter Thursday.
The 40-year-old Porter is in his second season as the third base coach for Washington, which had an off-day on its schedule Thursday.
Astros owner Jim Crane announced earlier in the week that the ball-club would begin interviewing between 6-8 candidates to replace Brad Mills, who was fired in August.
Interim manager Tony DeFrancesco is also a candidate for the job.
Porter played three years in the Big Leagues with the Cub’s, A’s and Rangers from 1999-2001.
Before starting his coaching career with the Nationals in 2011, Porter was a third base coach and later bench coach with the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2010.
Porter has also managed in the minors with Jamestown of the NY-Penn League in the Marlins system in 2006 going 33-49.
