Houston Astros Outfielder Jordan Schafer Arrested
Houston Astros center fielder Jordan Schafer has been arrested on a felony drug charge in Tampa, Florida. KRIV-TV in Houston broke the story yesterday.
According to the police, Schafer was pulled over and arrested outside of a Tampa-area Cheesecake Factory restaurant around 12:38 a.m. Tuesday. He was released from the county jail on a $2,000 bond less than two hours later.
Schafer was apparently in possession of at least 25 grams of marijuana. Possession of more than 20 grams of marijuana makes the crime a third-degree felony instead of a misdemeanor.
Schafer was acquired by the Astros from the Atlanta Braves in a mid-season trade for Michael Bourn.
In addition to the criminal charges against him, Schafer could also face disciplinary action from the Astros and Major League Baseball.
