The Houston Astros (22-13) have won two in a row, after beating the Toronto Blue Jays (17-19) 6-4 Thursday night at Minute Maid Park.  Thursday's game against the Blue Jays was the first of a four-game series.

Josh Fields improved his record to (2-0) after coming in to get the final two outs of the seventh inning. Pat Neshek earned a hold and Chad Qualls pitched a scoreless ninth inning to earn his fourth save of the season.

In the top of the seventh inning, Toronto broke a 2-2 tie with a bases loaded sacrifice fly from Ezequiel Carrera. Kevin Pillar scored on the play. Fields then got Devon Travis to fly out to end the inning.

In the bottom of the seventh, Aaron Loup replaced the Blue Jays starter, Drew Hutchison. Jason Castro led off the inning with a single. Chris Carter worked a six pitch walk to get on base. Then, Preston Tucker doubled to left, scoring Castro and tying the game at 3-3.

The hit parade continued as Jonathan Villar went first-pitch swinging on a fastball and hit a double to right field. Carter and Tucker scored to extend the Astros lead to 5-3.

Loup ended up blowing the save and getting nobody out in the seventh as he was lifted after Villar's double.

Roberto Osuna replaced Loup on the mound and faced Jake Marisnick. Marisnick flied out to center and Villar advanced to third on the out. Jose Altuve was intentionally walked to put runners at first and third.

With Luis Valbuena at the plate, Altuve stole second base and the throw kicked away from second, which allowed Villar to score.

The second game of the series is Friday night at 7:10p in Houston. The Astros are in first place in the AL West with a 4.5 game lead over the L.A. Angels.
