Davis Martin was on his way to another great Red Raiders season with a 4-1 record and a sparkling 2.57 ERA as the Friday night ace before elbow tightness derailed his sophomore season. Martin still might be able to make a difference in the 2017 Texas Tech baseball season.

Martin was scratched before his March 31st start against the Oklahoma Sooners, and a week later news came out that set expectations for a two week timetable on his return.

Two weeks slowly turned into close to two months with Davis Martin still out from his initial injury. There were whispers that he'd return for the West Virginia series. Then for the TCU series. Now, there is some iron clad evidence for Martins return from Kendall Rogers who writes for d1baseball.com.

Next Wednesday in OKC would be the opening game of the Big 12 tournament.

Of course getting Martin back would be huge for the Texas Tech baseball team, who can clinch a share of the regular season Big 12 title with a sweep of the Kansas Jayhawks this weekend, but Rogers goes as far as saying a Martin return would give the Red Raiders an upper hand on winning the title, as in the College World Series.

Right behind Oregon State University, the number one team in the Nation.
