The Miami Dolphins and Oakland Raiders both opened their preseason slates this weekend with the Dolphins beating the Giants 27-10 and the Raiders topping the Cardinals 31-10.

While neither Washington nor Grant scored, both rookies had their time to shine.

Washington had 8 carries for 43 yards and added a reception for 32. He also returned a kick for 31 yards, bringing his total yards to 106 for the game. Not a bad debut.

The NFL social media sites took notice for sure:

Meanwhile, Jakeem Grant also shined in his opener, catching four balls for 68 yards on five targets with zero drops. Grant also had two kick returns for 53 yards, and four punt returns for 60 yards. That's 181 total yards if you're keeping track.

Both Red Raiders seem like locks on their respective rosters, with Washington fighting for carries on day one of the regular season and Grant being the primary return threat for the Dolphins. He's shaping up to be a 5th option at receiver, running designed screens and short routes that can turn into huge plays.
