Monday morning at the weekly Texas Tech press conference, wide receiver Jakeem Grant's status was discussed in advance of Texas Tech's game at no. 10 TCU.

Grant was involved in an altercation early Sunday morning at a South Lubbock County nightclub. He suffered a laceration underneath his chin and received stitches.

When I asked coach Kliff Kingsbury about Grant's status with the team, and for Saturday's game, he said: "Yeah, he's on the team, and he's doing fine. I would expect him to play. That's not 100 percent, but it looks that way."

Concerning shoulder and ankle injuries Grant suffered in last Saturday's win against Kansas, Kingsbury said they weren't major and Grant should be able to play through them.

Grant this season has 50 receptions for 629 yards and 5 touchdowns.

Texas Tech at no. 10 TCU is Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at  Amon G. Carter Stadium in Fort Worth. Countdown to Kickoff on SportsRadio 1340 The Fan airs from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
